Gee Bee R-2 Racer

This photo shows pilot Delmar Benjamin putting the R-2 through a great series of acrobatics. The original R-2 was built for the 1932 Bendix Trophy race, which it did not finish because of a cracked oil line. It was destroyed in 1933 when it cartwheeled during a landing in Springfield, Massachusetts.
