Spad VII
The French Spad was successful primarily because
of its structural ruggedness which permitted it to dive at high
speeds without disintegrating. Several U.S. units used the Spad
VII, but most A.E.F. fighter squadrons were equipped with the slightly
improved version, the Spad XIII.
