Kaman HH-43B
Huskie
The U.S. Air Force used the Huskie primarily for
crash rescue and aircraft fire-fighting. It carried two rescuemen
or firefighters and a foam fire suppressant in a pod beneath it.
Some HH-43Fs, the final version of the Huskie, were used in Southeast
Asia as aerial fire trucks and for rescuing downed airmen in North
and South Vietnam.

The National Museum's HH-43B is one of about 175 Bs purchased
by the USAF. It established seven world records in 1961-1962 in
its class for rate of climb, altitude and distance traveled. It
was assigned to rescue duty prior to its retirement and final
flight to the National Museum of the USAF in April 1973.
