The Nike Ajax was the first operational surface-to-air guided missile system in the world. Its first unguided test was in 1946, and it became operational in 1954.
The missile was guided by TTR (Target Tracking Radar) after the target was identified by acquisition radar called LOPAR (Low-Power Acquisition Radar).
