Dornier Do 27
(Hebrew name: Dror)
The Dornier Do 27 was the first military aircraft made
in quantity by post-WWII West Germany. It entered service with the Light
Squadron in 1964, but was not shown to the Israeli public until 1972.
Because it was German made (part of the West German reparations deal)
aircraft, it was a sensitive issue.
|

The DO 27 had excellent short landing and takeoff qualities. They served
in the patrol and reconnaissance, artillery ranging, command transport,
and ground support rolls.
