Sikorsky CH-53A
Yas'ur (Albatross)

Israel received its first two CH-53s in 1969. They quickly demonstrated their superb lift capability in Operation Rooster 53. A Yas'ur crossed the Suez and carried a complete Soviet-made Egyptian radar station back over the lines.

In the late 1980s, the IAF started upgrading the CH-53s to Yas'ur 2000 specifications with an enhanced avionics system including a night vision system with a head up display, a digital moving map display, and a cockpit interface unit for editing navigation data.
