The Ouragan entered service in 1955 as a replacement
for the Gloster Meteor. This was after Israel canceled orders for Mystere
IIs and IVAs which displayed poor performance characteristics. The Ouragan
was retired in early 1973.
The Ouragan's arrival marked the beginning of the IAF's 'French Period'.
