Sherman Kilshon
The Israelis suffered severe losses to Arab antiaircraft
batteries during the Yom Kippur War (1973). The answer was to launch Shrike
anti-radiation missiles, with an Israeli-developed rocket booster, mounted
on a turretless M51 Sherman chassis. The Israelis named the system Kilshon
(Trident).
|

After Israeli aircraft had teased the Arab air defenses into switching
on their search and targeting radar, the Kilshon would lock on to the
radar's electromagnetic signature and destroy it with the Shrike anti-radiation
missile.
