Goodyear FG-1D
Corsair
The Goodyear Aircraft Company, Akron, Ohio built
a total of 4,007 Corsairs (Models FG-1, FG-1A & FG-1D) during
WWII. The Corsair is one of the best known U.S. Navy fighters of
WWII. In the Pacific, the Japanese called it "Whistling Death"
for its firepower and speed in the ground attack role.

This Corsair FG-1D was built by Goodyear in Akron, Ohio. Wartime demand
required Vought to contract out much of the production to Goodyear.
There was no difference in the design of the aircraft, except those
coming from the Goodyear plant were designated as FG-1D. |
