This photo shows Midway underway in her original configuration. She
cleared Norfolk, Virginia on 27 December 1954 for a world cruise. She
sailed via the Cape of Good Hope for Taiwan, where she joined the 7th
Fleet on 6 February 1955 for operations in the western Pacific. The Midway
remained with the 7th Fleet until 28 June 1955.
