Arado Ar 234B-2
Blitz
The first Ar 234 combat mission took place on 6 August
1944, when the V5 prototype went on a reconnaissance sortie over the beachhead
in Normandy. It met no opposition. During the two-hour flight, more useful
intelligence was gathered than the Luftwaffe had obtained during the previous
two months.
