Mercury Capsule 15B - Freedom 7
Astronaut John H. Glenn Jr. became the first American to orbit the Earth in this Mercury capsule on 20 February 1962. Glenn circled the Earth three times, and the space flight lasted 4 hours and 55 minutes before landing in the Atlantic Ocean.
