Douglas World
Cruiser Chicago
The Douglas World Cruiser "Chicago" was the
first aircraft to fly around the world in 1924. Powered by a 420 horsepower
V-12 Liberty engine and piloted by a U.S. Army Air Service crew of two,
it ended its successful flight in Seattle, where it began, after landing
69 times in 26 countries.
