The Grumman F4F Wildcat was the first all-metal, carrier
launched, monoplane fighter used by the U.S. Navy, and it was the primary
front line Naval fighter at the beginning of World War II.

The FM-2 was produced by General Motors and was the most numerous Wildcat
variant produced during WW II.
