Wildcat
Eastern Aircraft Division of General Motors started building the Wildcat in 1943, allowing Grumman to concentrate on F6F Hellcat production. The Eastern Wildcat, with reduced weight and complexity, proved ideal for use on the escort carriers that played a significant part in the Allied offensive.
