Liberty Engine
The Liberty engine was the United State's most significant
contribution to the war effort. This is the 400-horsepower (298-kilowatt)
V-12, air-cooled version. It was one of WWI's most powerful engines and
one of the workhorses of the war. More than 20,000 were built by the time
production ended early in 1919.

The Liberty became the standard U.S. wartime aircraft engine of WWI. It
was produced by Packard, Lincoln, Ford, General Motors (Cadillac and Buick),
Nordyke, and Marmon.
