North American
P-51A-10NA Mustang

The first P-51A flew on 3 February 1943. Unlike the A-36A, the P-51A was meant to be a fighter, not a bomber. It had the same external stores capability as the A-36A, but lacked the dive brakes and chin guns. Armament was limited to four .50 cal machine guns mounted in the wings.
