Budapest
From the Freedom Monument atop Mount Gellért you have a magnificent view of all of Budapest and the Danube River. Here you see three of Budapest's bridges: the Margharet bridge far in the back, the Szechenyi Chain bridge, and the modern Elisabeth bridge. Further south are the Liberty, Petofi, Lagymanyosi bridges.
The original Elizabeth Bridge bridge was completed in 1903 but was badly damaged by the Germans in 1945. The new bridge opened in 1964.
