Statue of Queen Elizabeth
This is a statue of Emperor Franz Joseph's wife, the pro-Hungarian Elizabeth of Bavaria. She was crowned queen of Hungary on 8 June 1867 after the Austro-Hungarian Ausgleich, or Compromise. She was mortally stabbed by an Italian anarchist, Luigi Luccheni, during a visit to Switzerland in September of 1898.
