Dohány Street Synagogue
The Ark is located on the eastern wall. Three steps lead to the seats for the rabbi and cantor, in front of the Ark.
The synagogue was restored in the early 1990s and was rededicated just before Rosh Hashanah 1996. It suffered greatly under Communist rule and was in a very unsafe condition. Now it is magnificent and the walls are adorned with colored and golden geometric shapes.
The organ loft and choir gallery are located at the back of the sanctuary. The 5,000 tube synagogue organ was built in 1859.
