1956 Revolution Memorial
On 23 October 1956, the Hungarians rebelled against
the Soviet Union. They tore out the center of the Hungarian flags, which
bore the emblem of the Communist government. Since then this flag has
one of the strongest symbols of the 1956 revolution. Flags like this were
common in the years shortly after 1989.
