Masada

Herod the Great built the fortress of Masada between 37 and 31 BCE. It included a casemate wall around the plateau, storehouses, large cisterns filled with rainwater, barracks, palaces, and an armory.

Masada
Masada is a symbol of freedom and independence for the State of Israel. Recruits of the Israel Defense Forces Armored Units swear their Oath of Allegiance in an annual ceremony on its summit. Their defiant cry: "Masada will never fall again".
