Monastery of Mary
Ark of the Covenant
During the Byzantine period a church was constructed
on this site, but was destroyed during the Persian invasion in 614. It
was eventually restored by Napoleon in 1875. During the War of Independence
the monastery was temporarily used as a hospital for the Harel Brigade.
