Sherman Tank Hull for Drivers' Training
The widespread use of the Sherman by Armored and
Artillery Corps in the 1050-60s prompted the IDF to modify some
for drivers' training. The turret opening was closed with a round
steel plate that had a central opening for the instructor.

Note the white Hebrew letter lamedh (the predecessor to our
letter "L") on the blue background. It stands for lomed,
or learner. This sign appears on all drivers training vehicles in
Israel, including those used to train new civilian auto drivers. |
