This tank destroyer was built on a Cromwell Cruiser chassis
and was up gunned with a Centurion 20 pounder main gun. Two British made
Charioteer lightweight tanks were captured from terrorist forces in Southern
Lebanon during Operation Latani in 1978.
The British sold 24 Charioteers to Jordan in 1954. Jordan then passed
them on to Lebanon. When the Lebanese army disintegrated during the civil
war (1975-1990), the PLO took a few and used them in Southern Lebanon.
