M3A3 Lee/Grant
Mk.II Medium Tank
In 1940, the British bought 200 U.S. Grant Medium Tank
M3s. They were similar to the M3 Lee with a riveted hull, but they had
a cast turret and radio equipment in the turret instead of in hull. Its
turret also had a more extended overhang than on the standard model.

The Grant served with the British in the North African campaign, where
they performed poorly. The counterweight on the short 75mm barrel fixed
gun stabilization problems. |
