Matilda Mk II
Infantry Tank
The Matilda II was used by the British in the North African
campaign of WWII. With its 78mm frontal armor, it was nearly impossible
for the Germans to destroy with anything less than an 88mm antitank round.
The Mk II was the first British tank to have a diesel engine, and the
only British tank to serve throughout WWII.
|

The Matilda infantry support tank had a 2pdr main gun and one 7.92 Besa
machine gun. The Vulcan Foundry made 2,987 Mk IIs by the time production
ceased in 1943.
