This is a quote from a speech made by President Franklin
D. Roosevelt on Labor Day, September
5, 1942. He was speaking of "the people who live by the sweat of
their brows."
"They have given their sons to the military service. They have stoked the furnaces and hurried the factory wheels. They have made the planes and welded the tanks, riveted the ships and rolled the shells."
