Chief of Staff, General George C. Marshall wrote these
words on 5 October 1943. This quote is as poignant today as it was during
World War II.
"We are determined that before the sun sets on this terrible struggle
our flag will be recognized throughout the world as a symbol of freedom
on the one hand and of overwhelming power on the other."
