Roosevelt Memorial
The Roosevelt Memorial is located along the Cherry Tree
Walk on the Western edge of the Tidal Basin near the National Mall. Unveiled
in May 1997, it is one of Washington’s more recent monuments. Upon
opening, the memorial received mixed reviews for several reasons. One
observation is that FDR wanted his memorial to be simple and understated,
but huge granite walls on 7.5 acres precludes that possibility.
