De Havilland
Vampire FB.5
The FB.5 fighter-bomber was the most common variant of
the Vampire. During the first jet dog fight in Middle East history, an
IAF Meteor shot down two Vampires in 1955. Another Vampire was shot down
by an Ouragan in 1956, and four others were shot down by Mysteres in the
Sinai Campaign.

This Vampire FB.5 is a former Lebanese Air Force fighter. The first prototype
De Havilland Vampire flew on 20 September 1943, six months after the Gloster
Meteor.
