Damascus Gate

The Old City of Jerusalem has eight main gates. The Damascus Gate (the Arabs call it "Bab el-Amud" - the "Gate of the Column.") in the northern wall was built by Suleiman the Magnificent around 1541 CE. It is the most massive and ornate of all of Jerusalem's gates.
